Here's what happened to the old homecoming queen

I am not sure if you are going to put this in the Pacer, but I just thought that I would give some of my fellow students some insight on why I am not on campus this semester, just to clear up a few things as well.

This summer, I was struggling with a few things and trying to deal with them all on my own. That did not work. Some of my problems included; money for school for the upcoming year, money to pay my car note and insurance, and helping my mom with bills at home.

Those were just the top three, of course, women overreact when problems come along. I had support from the one person that I could always depend one, my best friend and boyfriend of almost six years.

I had to make a decision that involved me looking into changing my major, going back home to Memphis, or staying at school, working off campus and attending school hopefully staying on coarse to graduate in the Spring of 2003.

Okay, something clicked, I had to put it all in God’s hands because I was STRESSED! Once I did that, I was very comfortable with the decision that I had made. I chose to resign as a Resident Assistant, which I had been for two years, at the end of summer school and go back home to work, help my mom and at the same time, continue with my education.

I looked into transferring, only to find out that I would lose about 30 hours or more. I could not handle that, I was ready to graduate within the next year. I decided to take my courses online while being at home helping my mother and working.

It is very hard being a working student with bills and extra baggage that a person can live without for a few years, like a car, credit cards and, do I need to go on?

Currently, I am working at my favorite job in the world, Foot Locker, and doing very well in school.

I am also concentrating and working on modeling professionally. That is going very well for me right now. I model locally in Memphis right now with Stanley E. Smith’s Erole’ Expose’ Showcase Models.

I have done two fashion shows with New York designers as guest designers. The weekend of Nov. 15th, I will be in Nashville to compete for Miss Music City.

Since I have been at home, I have been able to take voice lessons and work on getting the jitters and fear out of my vocals and concentrate on projecting my voice to its best. I will also be competing in Miss UTM the following weekend.

Also I have been able to dedicate my life fully to the Lord above.

The devil is busy and he is a liar, so this was put on my heart to write and I did just that.

So now you know what happened to Robin Taylor, whom you saw almost every week in the Pacer (seemed like) last semester.

I will graduate December 14th 2002. After all the worrying and stressing that I did this summer, I chose to do one thing, PRAY!

I just thought I would inform a few people on what is really going on with Robin. I get asked a lot when I see people that come to Memphis for the weekend and sometimes, the routine of saying the same thing over and over again can get very tiresome.

I have you to know, my former professors and all, I am doing well and things are looking very promising for me in the future.

Some of you may care and some of you may not, but this is for those who were wondering and never got that answer personally from me.

Robin Taylor is a senior Independent Studies major from Memphis.
