Heat downs football player

layer was airlifted to Baptist Hospital in Nashville Monday afternoon after suffering from heat stroke during practice.

According to University officials, Ryan Jeanette of Murfreesboro was taken out of practice after complaining of dizziness. Later, when practice concluded for the day, the coach was making his final comments of the afternoon when Jeanette keeled over and blacked out.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene, where, they said, Jeanette was found to have a core body temperature of 107 degrees. Martin Fire Department first responders and members of the Weakley County Ambulance Service took immediate steps to lower his temperature, managing to bring it to 102 degrees before he was taken off the field.

As of press time, university officials said Jeanette would soon be released from the hospital.

Coaches Sam McCorkle and Blaine McCorkle, who were in transit to the Nashville hospital, were unavailable for comment on Monday.
