Love, adventure and freedom: no need to ask for more after Chasing Liberty.

Mandy Moore plays the lead role of 18-year-old Anna Foster, first daughter of the United States, in this romantic comedy.

After Moore’s character, Anna, goes on one terrible date after another, invaded by Secret Service agents hired to protect her, she has her father, President James Foster (played by Mark Harmon), promise her one night of freedom with only two Secret Service agents, after the first family has fulfilled its diplomatic duties in Prague. President Foster makes this promise to Anna, but being the overprotective father that he is, he still has Secret Service agents undercover at a concert that Anna and Gabrielle (Beatrice Rosenblatt) attend.

Anna and Gabrielle catch on to her father’s scheme. Gabrielle comes up with a plan to elude the Secret Service agents. In Anna’s attempt to escape, she asks a stranger on a scooter, Ben Calder (Matthew Goode), to help her get away.

Ben convinces Anna that he is a photographer. But as the movie progresses, you realize Ben is really an undercover Secret Service agent. When President Foster finds out that Anna has no idea Ben is a Secret Service agent, the president gives Ben the assignment of guarding Anna without her finding out whom he really is. This assignment proves to be a liberating impractical journey across Europe for more than Anna and Ben.

Chasing Liberty is a great movie to see if you want to go out alone, or if you are on a date. Viewers with overprotective parents should be able to relate in some ways with Moore’s character, Anna, when it comes to disastrous dates.
