Has America changed since September 11?

Till the end of time, September 11th will be a day that nobody will ever forget.

The planes crashing into the World Trade Center and then minutes later, the twin towers plummeting to the ground, are images that will forever be imprinted in our minds.

After a year of coping and coming to sorts with all that has happened, Americans are regrouping and are showing how life can go on.

After all that has happened, have Americans changed?

The answer to this question is yes and no.

In some ways, Americans have changed.

After that tragic day a year ago, many lives were changed forever and many lives lost. Even those of us that didn’t lose anyone that day still feel a sense of loss for all who did.

Many people’s outlook on life in general is different. There is also physical change. As we watched the World Trade center being cleared, we could see healing and regrowth everywhere we looked.

Then again, there are ways that Americans have stayed the same.

Americans have stayed strong and if anything, have become stronger. We as Americans showed courage in the face of disaster and proved that no matter what happens, this country can not be torn down.

Americans showed that their unity and spirit was something that nobody could ever take away.

What was supposed to be a hit on the strength of Americans proved just the opposite.

After giving it a lot of thought, I have come to a conclusion that says it perfectly.

Americans stayed strong where it was important and changed what was needed. I guess it just proves how versatile we as Americans really can be.
