Greeks come together for Bible Study

Even though they all belong to many different organizations, they all come together for one special cause: to find themselves.

On Monday nights at ten o’clock members of the Greek community come together for worship and bible study.

This is something new that Greeks have been trying to arrange for a long time. This idea is finally a reality and seems to be leaving an impact on those involved. Members of various Greek organizations share and discuss their strong beliefs in Christ and relate those beliefs to college life.

Nathan Tircuit, who works for RUF, Reformed University Fellowship, leads these studies.

A few Greek members approached him about starting a bible study and getting people involved. He took the idea and, as the saying goes, “Ran with it.” He contacted the organizations, set the time and place, and established a topic to lead by.

The topic of the bible study is “Relationships.” This is something that we all struggle with as an individual and in our relationships with others. Nathan says, “Love is hard, but without the gospel, it is impossible.

Love is not focused on yourself, but everyone else.” Discussion for the studies touches on topics such as identity crisis, portraits of a godly man and woman, defining love, blessed union, forgiving, sex in a sexy world, purity for the impure, and building a home.

So far there have been around ten to fifteen people attend the bible study. Each meeting Nathan starts off with scripture, a prayer, and then opens the floor for discussion.

Jamie Jerman, a Chi Omega from Alamo, TN, said that “I am so busy with everything else, this is a time when I can be still and know why I am here.”

Those who have attended have said that the atmosphere is comfortable, the people are welcoming, and the topics relate to everyday life.

If you are looking for a way to connect with the rest of the Greek community and find yourself through Christ then maybe this is just the thing for you.

Weekly meetings are in room 229 of the University Center on Monday nights.
