Greekfest events benefit Alyssa Ray

SAE holds benefit dinner

Cars lined up and down Lee Street Wednesday night as Sigma Alpha Epsilon, partnered with Michael's Steakhouse and Gordon Food Services, held a steak dinner to benefit Alyssa Ray.

With lines stretching out the door and at times all the way down the sidewalk, the dinner sold over 300 tickets and raised over $500 for "Alyssa's Ray of Hope."

"Fraternities seem to get a bad reputation in town," said SAE President, Jason Balestrini. "It feels good to do something beneficial for the Martin community as well as a family in need. We're just proud to be part of the Greek week festivities and the Greek community here."

The majority of every Greek chapter on campus turned out for the event, which was held in the reception area of the SAE house.

Alyssa's grandmother, who was simply be referred to as "Nana" ate dinner and posed for pictures with several diners.

"I am so pleased with the people here tonight. The food is great it makes me so happy to see people turning out for my granddaughter," she said.
