Gray, Jarrett senior art exhibits on display in Fine Arts

There is some talent a-brewing on the campus of UTM, between Chad Gray and Michael Jarrett.

Gray and Jarrett have their senior art exhibits on display in the lobby of Fine Arts, open now until November 9.

Gray has obvious talents in Photoshop and photography.

His works include Bird’s Eye View, Ant’s Eye View, Snake’s Eye View, Branch Out Travel, Keeping Up With Time, Money, Think Before You Drink, Life’s a Beach and Sunset.

He also has an etching that was done in Photoshop titled That Afternoon Wave..

Water Funnel is nothing more than just his professional stationary and a business card that he designed

Along with his pictures, he had on display five ceramic bowls in various shapes, sizes and colors, a ceramic fish teapot, a ceramic piece titled African Art and a ceramic fountain.

On a separate table, he had constructed a ceramic base for a lava lamp with green leaves coming out of the top; it looked like a palm tree.

One of the masterpieces of his works is the fish teapot because of the intricate details.

Keeping Up With Time is another masterpiece because of the many sets of four hands with the timepiece in the center.

Another work that is amazing is Think Before You Drink, which is an anti-drinking piece with a car crashed into the side of a commuter bus with two men looking on.

It is an artistic representation of the terrible repercussions of driving while intoxicated.

Gray’s photos done in Photoshop have some special effects done to them.

With pictures of a highway and a line of trees, he took the photos and manipulated the images to create some abstract edges and curvy roads along an open highway.

Jarrett’s works in Photoshop include Mechanical Hand, Rust, Magazine Ad, Adriana,Billboard Ad and Mecha Cricket. He also had a digital photo on display called Knuckles.

He did some drawings in pencil that were breathtaking. Those works include Monochromatic Girl, The Austrian Oak, Untitled and REM.

A highlight of his senior art exhibit was a pencil drawing labeled Untitled.

In this piece, a girl is looking over her shoulder. It is simple yet elegant and intriguing.

The Austrian Oak is a pencil drawing of a youthful Arnold Schwarzenegger. It is a flashback to his bodybuilding days, before he became a famous actor.

In the drawing, Schwarzeneg-ger is flexing his muscles and wearing nothing more than a pair of tighty whities.

Another piece that is very detailed yet funny is Magazine Ad. It is a possible magazine advertisement for a fake brand of beer.

The creative twist to this beer and what could make it appealing to health nuts is that it has all that other beers have to offer, just without all the unhealthy aspects to it.

Chad Gray and Michael Jarrett’s exhibits will be on display in Fine Arts lobby until November 9.
