If you are an early riser and need something to listen to on your way to class or work, then you should turn your car radio to WUTM 90.3 The Hawk and listen to Girl Talk.

Girl Talk airs at from 8-9:30 a.m on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The shows air personalities are senior communications majors with an emphasis in broadcasting, Crystal Oldham of Dresden, Sarah Beth Daniels of Newbern, and Tabatha Thurman of Rutherford.

Although the name of the show is Girl Talk, it is not just for women listeners.

Oldham, Daniels and Thurman’s program plays all female artists from any music genre. Listeners are able to hear music from artists such as Ashanti, Vanessa Williams, Madonna, No Doubt and much more.

These ladies are a funny combination of funny, sassy and smart. The show line includes a Woman of the Day, where Oldham informs listeners of a prominent woman that has great accomplishments.

Daniels has a segment call “Sidewalk Talk,” where listeners to the show are able to get the 411 on campus news. And throughout the show, Thurman gives listeners up-to-date national, regional and entertainment news.

“I like the enegery of the show the most,” said Oldham. “I like the idea that it is possible to be enthusiastic at 8 o’clock in the morning.”

Oldham, Daniels and Thurman’s personalities blend well with one another, which gives them the excitement and enthusiasm that they need to pull off such a great show.

“I like having fun with my girls,” Oldham replied.

Daniels added what she loves most about Girl Talk that it is all about girls.

“It is girl time! We gossip and talk about everything that women talk about,” said Daniels.

Listeners of the show are able to call-in and make request for songs, or give a birthday shoutout. Listeners call (731) 587-7098 or send an e-mail to Girl Talk at girlsaretalking@yahoo.com.

Overall, Girl Talk is an awesome radio show to wake up to on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Students that stay on campus and have a 9 o’clock class should definitely turn their radios to WUTM 90.3 The Hawk and listen to the show.

If you really want to know how women talk when men are not in their presence, then Girl Talk is a great show to listen to.

As the R&B artists TLC would say: “Girls talk about the booty too. About the way a brother is hangin’ too. When you didn’t think that nobody knew. You see the girls are talkin’. The girls are talkin’.”

On a scale of one to five, one being the lowest and five being the highest. I would give Girl Talk a five.
