Fraternities, sororities ‘represent’ in line dance competition during Greekfest 2003

Earlier this week was Greek Fest 2003, and it was full with events performed by several different fraternities and sororities.

The one particular event that I’m going to elaborate on is the line dance competition, which took place in the Skyhawk Fieldhouse on Wednesday.

The fraternities that participated were the men of Phi Beta Sigma, who took home first place for the third consecutive year. Those guys really got the crowd into it. Sigma Phi Epsilon, who placed second, were full of energy and let everyone in attendance know that they came to represent.

For the sororities, Delta Sigma Theta placed first and let everyone know that they are not just considered the best, they are the best.

Zeta Phi Beta were second and showed the crowd that they can dance too. Also competing were the Chi Omegas, Alpha Delta Pi, Zeta Tau Alpha and Alpha Omicron Pi. All of these sororities could have easily placed.

All of the fraternities and sororities put on a great showing and gave the crowd something to cheer about.

This event had the largest turn out ever in its three year history with an estimated 1300 people in attendance. So, as you can see, it is something the students are looking forward to.

The line dance competition is also a time where all the Greeks get to come together and enjoy one another’s company.

Also, before I close, I would like to define line dance. For those of you who would like to know, it’s an organization’s own individuality that describes their uniqueness.

As a member of Kappa Alpha Psi, I would like to say that line dancing illustrates our suaveness, and really shows how smooth we really are, not that you guys don’t already know that, but it is just a reminder.

Check out the rest of the Greek Week events. On Friday, there is Lip Sync and on Saturday, there is Steppin.
