Financial aid workshop to be held February 13


Don’t be intimidated by college financial aid!

The University of Tennessee at Martin office of student financial assistance will offer a free financial aid workshop for college bound students and parents. “FAFSA Filing: Line by Line” is set for 5:30-7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 13, in Room 206, Boling University Center.

This workshop is designed for students and parents of students planning to attend college in 2003-04.

Experts will be on hand to help complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The FAFSA is a federal form and is used throughout the nation to enhance opportunities in higher education at technology centers, community colleges and four-year public and private institutions.

The workshop is open to students and parents regardless of college choice. No appointment is necessary, and the process will take less than 20 minutes. Participating parents and students should bring the following:

• Completed 2002 IRS 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ or Telefile;

• 2002 W2 forms and/or 1099 form;

• Yearly untaxed income amounts (such as Social Security benefits or child support received);

• Investment value, business value, farm value (if applicable); and

• Yearly amount paid in child support.
