FCS sponsors fashion show, luncheon to celebrate International Week


The FCS department celebrated “International One World Week” with a fashion show and luncheon in Gooch Hall.

The fashion show kicked off the afternoon. Some of the FCS students modeled fashions from many different places from all over the world. Some of the places represented included: Japan, Morocco, India, and Africa. Dr. Byrd was the announcer. Immediately following the fashion show was a luncheon.

Students and professors prepared dishes from all over the world. There was a dish that consisted of curried beef over rice, this is called kheema and it is from India. Another dish served was from Nigeria and it is called jollof rice. This dish was a mixture of rice, chicken and various vegetables.

The professors took this opportunity to announce the recipients of some of this years FCS awards. They are as follows: Outstanding Graduate Student- Jerrica Lamb, Outstanding Undergraduate Student- Melissa Goodman, Outstanding Child and Family Studies Student- Kristin Bradley, Outstanding Dietetics Student- Keri Spann, Outstanding Fashion Merchandising Student- Ashlie Mothershead, Outstanding Family and Consumer Sciences Education Student- Nikki Mitchell, Outstanding Interior Design Student- Erin Brown, Fashion Merchandising Association Outstanding Member Award- Lindsey Pullen, Preproffessional and Graduate Student Group American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Senior Award-Dana Stafford, Outstanding Member Award- Janet Pearce, Student Dietetic Association Award- Keri Spann, Outstanding Phi Upsilon Omicron Member Award- Melissa Goodman, and I-Design Group Outstanding Member Award- Lea Goodwin.

This was just one of the many events that happened on campus to celebrate International Week.
