Fall in love with music again with Chelly Wright’s Metropolitan Hotel

Metropolitan Hotel is not just a hotel in London, but also the title of country singer Chely Wright’s new album. The name was chosen when Wright and friends were staying at the Metropolitan Hotel in 2002 listening to CD after CD of their favorite artist.

“That night I got turned on to music again,” Wright said on her webpage. Because this was her place of epiphany, she chose the hotel name as the title of the album. This is the first record release the star has had in four years and it is worth the wait.

In this 12 song CD, she tells a story that can touch someone with each song. The tracks address things such as a loss of a friend, the bond between mother and child and the freedom we are blessed with in the United States.

Many of the songs are based on actual events that took place in her life. The current single “Bumper of My SUV” is an example of a true story. A women on the streets of Nashville gestured to the artist because of a U.S. Marine sticker she had on the back of her SUV. The song goes on to explain what this symbol means to her as well as many other families in the United States with loved ones serving our country overseas.

This is just a small example of all the things that reach out to the listener, touching their lives in some way. Good music creates a personal connection to the listener not only in country, but also in several genres. This album does just that. Because the artist wrote and produced over half of the cuts on this record, you can feel the passion in her voice and the feelings she has for each song. This emotion is something that helps create visual elements of a song in the listener’s mind. Wright has done an excellent job in painting a very clear and precise picture that draws you into the music. This album will make you fall in love with music all over again.
