Electronic voting rids human error from Homecoming election

Homecoming election time is nearing us again. We at the Student Government Association are very excited about this election. It is a time for all campus organizations to band together and support its choice for the Homecoming Elections 2002!

The polls will open at noon and close at 5 p.m. on Monday October 7 and Tuesday October 8.

Runoffs will be held if a candidate does not possess at least 40 percent of the votes.

They will be held on Wednesday, October 9 from noon until 5 p.m. At that time, students will be permitted to vote again for their choice of queen.

This year voting will be electronic. Five computers will be set up in the Legislative Chambers (Rm. 111) in the University Center. The tabulations will be kept in Crisp Hall, under strict supervision. Each student will enter the chambers, show an SGA member their Skyhawk Card and then will proceed to vote.

The votes will be anonymous and the computer will tabulate them. This is done as an effort to make Homecoming voting more accurate. With the new system, there is no room for human error. But students, do not forget, you will not be permitted to vote, unless you have your Skyhawk Card with you.

The queen will be announced at the 8:30 p.m. Pep Rally on Friday night.

She will be crowned during half time at the football game. With the many changes going on, I hope that you come and support the Homecoming Queen and her Court!
