Elections: Students offer support

Former president, vice president endorse Dean

Dear Editor:

It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that we write this letter. We would first like to thank the student body for all their support as President and Vice President of the Student Government Association in the 2002-2003 school year. The presidential and vice presidential experience was truly remarkable and we would not trade it for the world; however, it is election time once again.

We know that a lot of students do not care about elections neither do they particular concern themselves with the candidates. Well we must tell you this is a mistake. It is SO important to vote in the Student Government Elections. The people whom you vote for will be the representatives from your college. The senators will fight for the issues that are significant to their constituents (you). If you are having a problem with professors in your particular college then express your concerns to your senator.

Eric and I would really like to call your attention to a very important position, President.

The President of the Student Government Association should be someone who the students believe in. President should be a person that will fight for the students needs, desires, and concerns. This individual should be selfless, removing him/herself from the situation thinking about what is best for the student body as a whole.

As past President and Vice President we feel it is our duty to inform the student body of a person who fits the above criteria. He has worked diligently to make certain the needs and concerns of the students are being heard. We have seen him blossom into a very hardworking, dedicated, and persistent individual. He is a person that goes above and beyond his call of duty. He has done things on campus that have been beneficial to students. He is in the process of implementing a resource program for students to obtain information about their professors (Pick-A-Prof), gotten the Tennessee State Court of Criminal Appeals to host court here on campus so students could have access, along with several other things.

Now this intelligent, articulate, and enthusiastic guy we are speaking about is none other than Dusty Dean.

He is such an awesome guy. He is very approachable and easy to speak with about anything. We have so much confidence in Dusty that this reason is why we choose to support him. Eric and I choose to formally endorse Dusty Dean the real candidate, who will lead and do miraculous things as our next 2004-2005 President of the Student Government Association.

Sincerely,

Eric Tolbert, 2002 - 2003 President

Nikki Draper, 2002 - 2003 Vice President.
