Drug bust suspect still at large

Martin Police are still searching for a man who fled the scene of a drug bust on Oxford Street last weekend.

Major Gunn, 23, is wanted on warrants of theft over $10,000, evading arrest, possession of Schedule II, possession of Schedule VI and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Meanwhile, Keisha Anderson, 22, of Memphis was arraigned March 22 and will appear April 7 in Weakley County General Sessions Court on a felony charge of possession of Sche-dule VI with intent for resale. She was arrested at 12:54 a.m. Saturday, March 20, after Martin officers found 186 grams of marijuana in her apartment on Oxford Street.

Anderson apparently told MPD officers she was a UTM student, but no evidence of such was found at the university.

According to the MPD report, Officer Tommy Erwin was on routine patrol when he saw a car parked in front of Anderson’s Oxford Street residence that was similar to a car reported stolen from the Jackson Police Department. Erwin ran the license tag on the vehicle and confirmed that it was the stolen vehicle. When Erwin approached the residence, a black male and Anderson came to the door.

Erwin then noticed the smell of burnt marijuana coming from the apartment. The male told officers that his identification was in the vehicle. Officer Terry Guthrie escorted the male to the vehicle. The male then jumped in the car and drove off in a reckless manner, almost striking an oncoming vehicle, according to the report. The car was last seen going west on Church Street.

The officers stayed with Anderson and obtained a search warrant for her residence. After the warrant was obtained, they found the marijuana along with scales, plastic baggies and a large smoking apparatus. Officers also found two grams of a white chunky substance in the apartment that has been sent to the Tennessee Bureau of Investi-gation Crime Lab in Memphis for analysis.

Anyone with knowledge of Gunn’s whereabouts is asked to call Crimestoppers at 587-2611.
