Don't run 'Out of Time'

*** out of 5

On Friday night, Watkins Auditorium was filled with suspense and thrill as the movie "Out of Time" was shown.

"Out of Time" stars such actors and actresses as Denzel Washington, Eva Mendes and Dean Cain.

In this movie, Washington plays a chief of police in a small Florida town. His life begins to take a downward spiral when his wife, played by Mendes, moves out and files for divorce.

Matt Whitlock, played by Washington, has an affair with a woman who is married to an abusive husband, played by Dean Cain. This woman, Ann, he is having a affair with, discovers she has cancer and Whitlock tries to help her. This is when the suspicions from the husband come into play.

Ann’s house explodes in flames, and with two bodies, plus an unusual device, the signs begin to point to murder. Whitlock’s soon to be ex, Alex, is assigned to the case.

With Ann and Chris, the abusive husband, dead and money missing that was in Whitlock’s care from a recent drug bust, the suspense begins to mount.

Denzel Washington leads this movie to its highest point. He can take a role and make it interesting, compelling and entertaining all in one. He plays a likeable character who makes the wrong choice at the wrong time.

Washington shines in this movie by playing the everyday man who is tough, manly and falls prey to his own stupidity in a very believable way.

The Hollywood ending to this movie keeps the audience in a good mood and leaving with a good opinion of the film.

The SAC sponsors theses movies in Watkins on Wednesday and Friday nights. The movies are free, and so is the popcorn.
