Disney recruiter to visit UTM

For nearly 20 years, college students from across the United States and Puerto Rico have been dreaming up new success and their future as part of the Walt Disney World College Program (WDWCP). UTM students will have the opportunity to speak with a WDW recruiter at 4 p.m., April 12, in the UC, room 206A.

The WDWCP provides students with an insider’s look at the operation of a world renowned resort. While in the WDWCP, students embark on a learning experience that includes newly structured educational courses, positions in Theme Parks and Resorts, and friendships with college students from around the nation and world. They also have the opportunity to enhance their education by participating in one of six completely redesigned courses offered as part of the WDWCP. These courses include:

• Disney College Program Practicum • Disney Communications Course • Disney Hospitality Management Course • Disney Experiential Learning for the 21st Century • Disney Human Resource Management Course • Disney Organizational Leadership Course • Disney Marketing U: Personal and Career Development Strategies.

The American Council on Education has recommended these courses for credit. Students should meet with their academic advisor for details about receiving credit.

Students in the WDWCP gain crucial, real-world experience through a variety of jobs in attractions, culinary arts, custodial work, food and beverages, hospitality, housekeeping, life guarding, merchandising, park greeting, quick service restaurants, recreation, and transportation.

In addition to their jobs, students have the opportunity to network with leaders throughout the Walt Disney World Co.

Students in the WDWCP are housed in fully furnished, one-to-four bedroom apartments near the Disney property. Rent payments, which include all utilities and transportation to and from work, are deducted from each student’s weekly paycheck.

Interested students must attend a presentation hosted by a WDWCP Recruiter to interview for the program. The WDWCP is open to all undergraduate students in any major who have completed at least one semester of school.
