Conference focuses on women entering college for first time

The Martin Branch of the American Association of University Women at UTM will be hosting a conference for women considering college.

This conference is held for women who did not go straight to college out of high school for any reason and now find it hard to juggle work, family, and other responsibilities that they might have. The conference will be held Saturday, May 1, from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. in the UC. You must pre-register for this event. Registration pamphlets can be picked up at the information desk located at the UC, at the Paul Meek Library or at the C. E. Weldon Public Library.

Dr. Levy, one of the many women who is involved in the conference, said, "This conference is to encourage and help the women who find it hard to find their way back into college with the responsibilities they might have."

The conference will start out with general sessions for all participants where they can find out about each other while learning numerous ways to pay for college, financial aid, and online courses and how they work.

They will begin with break-out sessions where they will learn how to juggle home, career and college among many other topics. This will be followed by a roundtable luncheon, an information fair and optional campus tours. An optional lunch will be provided and costs $10.
