‘Come Away With Me’ brings young singer Norah Jones great popularity

**** of 5

2003 Grammy Winner for Best New Artist, Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Female Pop Vocal Performance and Pop Vocal Album, Norah Jones, turned only 24 on March 30, and if you Don’t Know Why she’s got one of the most promising futures in the music industry, you will after you listen to her new album come away with me.

Come Away With Me is different from most of the music that can be found on the air these days because of its timeless sound and elegant vocals.

Produced by the legendary Arif Mardin, with additional production by Norah Jones, Jay Newland and Craig Street, Come Away With Me blends Norah’s own songs with classic tunes from Hank Williams, J.D. Loudermilk and Hoagy Charmichael and originals by bandmates Jesse Harris and Lee Alexander for a gorgeous musical statement.

The album is not only a success, but it also gives the listener all the feeling they need to relax and enjoy life.

There is no way to describe the way Jones makes you feel with the feeling and emotion that she puts into her music. Some have even compared her vocals to that of the legendary Etta James. Those are big shoes to fill, but the 24 year-old New York born beauty makes it look so easy.

Jones had her own thoughts on her recent success, “I never thought I’d have a record like this - I thought it would be at least five years before I’d reach that point. This is really the record I wanted to make.”

The two most widely recognized songs on the album are Come Away With Me and Don’t Know Why. That’s probably no surprise to anyone, but after purchasing the CD and listening to it myself, I found a few other songs that have made themselves my new favorites.

Jones is only a year and a half older than I am, and probably not much older than many of you.

Can you imagine winning the music world over by 24? I’m still trying to win over some of my professors.

You don’t have to take my word on it; go buy the CD for yourself or a loved one, Norah Jones will take care of the rest.
