Chi Omega crowns Mr. Greek 2004

Chi Omega hosted the annual Mr. Greek Pageant on Tuesday to kick off Greek Week. Men from the seven fraternities participated in the three category contest to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The contestants began the competition with casual wear. From khaki pants to blue jeans, each participant wore an outfit that represented his personality.

The Rock-N-Roll theme allowed the men to dress in costume to impersonate their favorite rock star. Everyone from Buddy Holly to Willie Nelson graced the stage.

The contestants were not the only ones rocking and rolling. Amber McAdams, a junior from Greenfield, performed an enthusiastic rendition of Tina Turner’s Proud Mary during the intermission.

The Master of Ceremonies, David Belote, gave away prizes from local businesses and introduced special guests.

The audience received a gracious thank you from a Make-A-Wish family.

The contestants returned to the stage in formal wear. The judges cut the race to the final eight and began the question-and-answer session.

Many of the contestants humored the audience with creative answers.

In the end, Brent Simpson of Alpha Tau Omega was named Mr. Greek.

The first runner-up was Jamie Burton also of Alpha Tau Omega and the second runner-up was Philip Rhodes of Sigma Phi Epsilon.

Chi Omega presented a check for $2,500 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“Make-A-Wish offers hope to children and their families when they need it the most. I am glad the Greek community helped support this cause,” said pageant chairman Lindsay Graham.
