Chi Omega barbecue benefits athletic department

The Xi Zeta chapter of Chi Omega held their 13th annual barbecue, "Tailgate Time in Tennessee - Salute to America," on September 11. The tailgate party was held before the Skyhawks took the field against ETSU. Over 700 tickets were sold to students, faculty, and the Martin community. Th event was catered by Bad Bob's of Newbern.

Each year the proceeds go to the UTM Athletic Department. Chi Omega presented Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Phil Dane a check for $1,500 at half-time.

The brothers of Alpha Tau Omega won the participation award. They received fifty dollars to benefit their philanthropy.

"Athletics are so important to UTM. We want to show our athletes support not only in the stands, but off the field as well," commented Mary Helen Gallien, the chairperson of the fundraiser.

The event was co-sponsored by the Weakley County Alumni Chapter. The Chi Omega barbecue is one of the many service projects that Chi Omega does each year.
