BSA hosts Democratic leader

Black Student Association and Office of Multicultural affairs welcomed Tennessee’s Democratic party outreach coordinator, Freda Player to campus on Wednesday night.

Player spoke to the college crowd about getting involved in politics at a young age. She mentioned that this fall, students should excersize their civil right of voting.

“There are several issues that affect you. It’s your responsibility to get out there and vote,” Player said.

Player said that there are certain issues that college students and other Americans should be considering this year.

“Jobs, Healthcare and common sense are going to be key issues in this presidential race,” Player said.

Player told students that if they wanted to get involved in politics they had better be ready to pay their dues and also not turn away from defeat. “I lost elections that I wanted in high school,” Player says. “But, I also kept on running.”

Player is one of many speakers brought to campus on behalf of Multicultural Affairs.
