The University of Tennessee at Martin Arts Council will host the world-acclaimed Alvin Ailey II Dance Company at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9, in the Harriet Fulton Theatre of the Fine Arts Building, located on the UT Martin campus.

The Alvin Ailey II Dance Company has long been revered as one of America’s artistic treasures. Ailey II will tour as part of a black history and cultural celebration during the month of February and will feature four brand new works, along with many of the company’s signature pieces, such as “Escapades” and “Hidden Rites.”

Tickets for the performance are $10 for adults and $5 for students. All UT Martin students, season subscribers and area arts series subscribers receive free admission. The UT Martin Student Activities Council Office is co-sponsoring this event.

Ailey II will also conduct a free two-hour master class from 12 -2 p.m., Feb. 9, in Room 3033 in the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center dance studio.

This class is provided at no charge to the public due in part to a grant from the Southern Arts Federation in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
