AKPsi awarded for outstanding achievements

The Zeta Chi chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi at UTM received three awards for their achievements the past academic school year this past weekend in Atlanta, at the fraternity’s annual “Success Institute.”

Success Institute is a gathering for a weekend that focuses on building professional skills. Sessions include professional and personal development, chapter management, personal finance and team leadership.

The first award, The Circle of Excellence, was presented for exceeding the regional goal of new initiates. The second was a plaque from the National office for “Outstanding Improvement” in the National Performance Evaluations. The chapter received this award by improving its Annual Chapter Report by more than 20,000 points. Finally, the third award was presented by the Southern region for “Most Improved Chapter.” This is an award determined by the Regional Director, based on performance against other chapters in the region.

Winning three awards in front of the entire region has ignited the brothers of Alpha Kappa Psi to continue to work hard. With many more events planned, the brothers are currently trying to surpass last year’s benchmarks. Last year was a turn around year, but this year the fraternity has been looking to make its presence on campus a little more well known. Under the new leadership of President Donovan Williams and Vice President of Efficiency, Crystal Epps, the motive this year has been to give the campus a more evident vision of Alpha Kappa Psi.

Through services provided to the College of Business and Public Affairs and professional speakers free to the campus, AKPsi is seeking to prove commitment to building professional leaders.

The brothers of Alpha Kappa Psi would like to express thanks to Dr. Ernest Moser, Dean of the College of Business and Public Affairs for continued support to the organization. It’s because of Dean Moser’s contributions and support that the Zeta Chi chapter is able to continue to prosper.
