AGR, Pike, Chi O and AOPi advance to finals

Fraternity pulls to continue Thursday

Starting off the day with a sidewalk chalk competition and ending with a move, plus some rope pull and blizzard bucks in between made the day for UTM students celebrating Homecoming 2002.

SAC sponsored a Blizzard Bucks game show in the Watkins Auditorium at 8 p.m. followed by the SAC movie at 10 p.m. to end the day.

Activities continue tomorrow with more rope pull and comedians Joe Clair and Sylvia in Watkins Auditorium at 9 p.m. Rope Pull 2002 continued today as the sorority division got on the rope for the first time and the fraternities pulled in to the third round.

Chi Omega, in matching pink shirts, out-pulled Alpha Delta Pi in the first pull of the day. Sorority action continued with defending champion Alpha Omicron Pi beating Zeta Tau Alpha in the second pull.

Chi Omega and AOPi will meet in the rope pull finals Friday afternoon while ADPi and Zeta will pull for third place.

Fraternity competition picked back up with Phi Sigma Kappa pulling Pi Kappa Alpha. Pike came out on top for the win. Phi Sig had a bye in the first round, making this its first pull of the week.

The day ended with Sigma Phi Epsilon pulling Alpha Gamma Rho. The pull ended with the defending champion AGR coming out on top, setting up a re-match of last year’s championship pull between AGR and Pike. The two will meet in the finals Friday afternoon.

Fraternity rope pull action will continue Thursday at 5 p.m. Kappa Alpha Order will pull against Phi Sig to start the day. SigEp and SAE will pull in the later match. The winner of these two pulls will pull for third place in the consolation match on Friday.

Also on Thursday, there will be a city of Martin mayoral debate at 7 p.m. in the Watkins Auditorium. Everyone is invited to attend the event.
