ADPi celebrates Diamond Daze with charity, chili


The sisters of Alpha Delta Pi celebrated Diamond Daze Nov. 12-14. Diamond Daze is Alpha Delta Pi's week to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House and give back to the campus and community. To kick the week off, sisters held their first annual clothing drive and chili cook-off on Tuesday, Nov. 12. The brothers of Sigma Alpha Epsilon won first place in the clothing drive and received a $100 prize. All of the clothing donated was taken to We Care in Martin. We Care will distribute the clothing to the less privileged citizens of Martin. Alpha Delta Pi would like to thank the following organizations for their contributions to the clothing drive: SHAPE club, Fashion Merchandising club, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Geo club and the UT Martin softball team. The afternoon ended with a chili cook-off and chili dinner to benefit the Ronald McDonald House. Groups entered their favorite chili to be judged by Dr. Jerald Ogg, Dr. Robert Nanney and Vishenia Huery. The brothers of Sigma Alpha Epsilon were the winners of the chili cook-off and received a $100 prize. The UT Martin softball team and the College of Business and Public Affairs tied for second place, each receiving a $30 prize. Alpha Delta Pi would like to thank the following organizations for their participation in the chili cook-off: Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Kappa Alpha Order, College of Business and Public Affairs, Geo club, UT Martin softball teaAccording to Diamond Daze chair Hayley Vise, “The event was a huge success and we look forward to doing it again next year.” Sisters of Alpha Delta Pi would like to thank the following businesses for their contributions to the chili cook-off: E.W. James, Wal-Mart and Tom’s. Alpha Delta Pi would also like to thank the faculty and students of UT Martin and the Martin community for all of their support. On Wednesday, Nov. 13, sisters handed out Payday candy-bars as an extra payday to the faculty and staff. The Paydays were a way to thank the faculty and staff for their hard work and support throughout the year. Alpha Delta Pi ended Diamond Daze on Nov. 14 with a visit to the UT Martin children’s center. Sisters read stories and played games with the children throughout the afternoon. m and Zeta Tau Alpha. Alpha Delta Pi raised $1,700 from the chili cook-off and chili-dinner to benefit the Ronald McDonald House.
